CindyCast is accessible, informative and full of dry witty comments. It's also about music you may have missed. Every cast features one under the "under the radar" radar artist or band. You definitely won’t hear this music on commercial radio, you won’t read about them in hipster music magazines and you may not even be able to find them in a normal record store.

Oh god.

Overwhelmed? Don’t be…I'm taking a mainstream approach to independent and overlooked music. Each Cast will be under 5 minutes, so you'll have a concise, comprehensive and entertaining outlook.
Yeah! Sounds great! Bring it!

William Shatner - not your average dude, for sure. His music career began without anyone taking him very seriously with his insane covers of the Beatles and Bob Dylan in 1968. But thanks to Ben Folds - he's hip with the kids.

Beirut - This is what happens when a boy genius musician becomes infatuated with Gypsy music from the Baltic Sea. Sound fun? You bet.

Haley Bonar - In her own gentle words, "it's Bonar like 'Honor'". Haley's music is generally gentle, acoustic, alt-country... but this girl has got some balls and will drop the S-bomb and drink whiskey (in church).

Hallelujah The Hills - I can't help but think of the good old suburbs of South Eastern Massachusetts when I hear Ryan Walsh's songs. I'm really surprised that Dedham, Mass is where this guy is from. Holy crap. He can write a song that would make Randy Newman want to pack it up and go home. Plus the arrangements, enthusiasm and pure f-cking talent of each member makes the lineup and debut album a favorite that you may have missed.

Ben Hardt - Another find in the Steel City. Pittsburgh-based Ben Hardt makes me lose it. Strings usually make anything awesome and Ben's done something incredibly unique. One of several complaints is that the CD, "Ben Hardt and His Symphony", is only 6 tracks long. Too Short!

Fear of Pop - Ben Folds' first solo project featuring some super experimental sounds from the pop-piano hero. Guests include Frally Hynes (Ben's wife), Fleming McWilliams, Caleb Southern, John Mark Painter and William Shatner. This album is full of wild stuff that the normals probably don't like, but give it a shot.

The Last Town Chorus - eternally fronted by self-taught lap steel player, Meghan Hickey, The LTC freaks me out real good. It has been quoted that Meghan "sings like an angel and plays lap steel guitar like the Devil." Too true. Far Out, man.

Jackson C. Frank - kind of a popular dude on the 1960's UK folk circuit. Best known for his "Blues Run The Game" which was nearly a standard among folk singers like friends Paul Simon, Al Stewart, Nick Drake and more. Jackson was a tragic figure who could never get a break after his first record came out. Today still, barely anyone knows him - but those in the loop are that much better than everyone else

FDR - "The New Deal" is Felix Mcteigue's new project. He wrote and recorded 50 songs in 50 days. The songs are mostly 2 or so minutes long and have pretty great subject matter (meeting Willie Nelson at a truck stop, being born in the backseat of a Chrysler Lebaron, etc). It's also fun to hear all the ranges of Felix's voice at once. That is the best time.
