Podcast FAQ:
Q: What is a podcast?
A: It's like a mini-radio show that you can download on your computer and listen to whenever you want (on-demand!). There are many podcasts about every possible subject you can think of. Some podcasts are 40 minutes long and some are 3 minutes. My podcast is about music and is usually kept under 5 minuutes.
Q: What does it mean to subscribe to a podcast?
A: When you subscribe to a podcast through an MP3 player (like iTunes, Juicer, jPodder, Podcastalley.com, Podcast.net and Odeo.com.), it's like subscribing to a magazine (except podcasts are free). Everytime one of your subscriptions has a new podcast ready, your MP3 player should automatically download it for you when you launch the player. If it doesn't and you know that a new podcast is there, you can manually reload and it will retrieve it for you.
Q: Do I need an iPod to listen to a podcast?
A: No you just need an MP3 player to subscribe. Some folks like to put podcasts on their ipods and listen while they are walking or driving. It's very lovely, so try it out sometime.
Q: Do I need an MP3 player to listen to a podcast?
A: Most times you do, but for CindyCast, I've linked each episode's MP3 for easy listening. It is easier to have an MP3 player and to subscribe, but not nessecary.
Q: What do I do with this?: http://www.cindyhowes.net/cindycast.rss
A: Paste that address (which is called an RSS address) into your MP3 player. In iTunes, go to the "Advanced" menu and select "Subscribe to Podcast" and then paste the RSS address into the box that pops up and hit "Okay" and the magic will start.
